In January 2014 Steve Blake (Director) took a sabbatical and took on the role of Safety / Security & Crowd Management Manager for Tour de France 2014 He had responsibility to prepare and coordinate readiness of the event safety, security and crowd management operations. The event was recognised as the safest and most successful “Grand Depart” ever.
This involved consulting, supervising and auditing the plans of 21 Local Authorities, numerous SAG’s, 20 Spectator Hub Events and all in rural, isolated, urban, city centre, and complex environments, hundreds of miles of road side spectator viewing and coordination with the relevant Policing Authorities (Project GARIN), SIA, HSE, National Security Services and Royalty Protection Group (S014).
